Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu Maiden Visit to Market

-Affirms that good hygiene conquers all epidemic
Chairman, Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) and wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu has enjoined Tejuosho Market Traders to embrace proper hygiene, regular hand-washing and environmental cleanliness of the market, stating that these are the best ways to live a healthy life and to combat epidemics like coronavirus and LASSA fever.

She made this call on Thursday during an unscheduled sensitisation on cleanliness of markets to Tejuosho, Surulere Local Government in the early hours of the morning.
Dr Wale Ahmed, who also commended market leaders during the inspection, applauded the efforts of the Chairman for making cleanliness seamlessly easy for market owners.
Dr Ibijoke on the other hand reiterated that Mr Governor initiated the Blue-Box Policy last September to enable proper sorting of waste. The sorting, she added, also affords Lagosians the opportunity to create wealth from waste, stating that the “Waste-to-Wealth” is another initiative by the state government to make Lagos a 21st century economy and one of the high points of Mr Governor’s T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda, which is; “Health and Environment”. She explained that at the end of the inspection, cleanest markets will be rated and rewarded for maintaining high level of cleanliness in their markets.
Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu while addressing market men and women at Tejuosho Market commended their efforts for ensuring that the market environment is kept clean and tidy, adding that their actions have proven that market owners in the community have aligned with the T.H.EM.E.S. Policy of Mr Governor to improve Health and also make our environment clean.
Similarly, Dr. Sanwo-Olu implored the market women and leaders to sensitise all stakeholders in the market on proper hand-washing so as to fight the deadly covid-19. She encouraged them to eat well and have adequate rest, form the habit of eating vegetables and fruits which will boost immunity, and also keep the body strong to fight the virus. She charged.
Dr Sanwo-Olu appreciated the Chairman, Surulere Local Government Honourable Tajudeen Ajide for collaboratively ensuring that Tejuosho market is clean.
In his own remark, Dr Wale Ahmed, Commissioner for LG & CA commended the FirstLady Dr Ibijoke for her efforts and that of COWLSO members to promote cleanliness thus promoting healthy living. He enjoined the traders to ensure cleanliness of their markets as rewards will be presented to the cleanest market in the state.
Iyaloja-General, Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, in her words pledged her support to the initiative and promised to talk to all the traders to cultivate the habit of cleaning their markets and self-hygiene.
