Dr. Wale Ahmed — Honourable Commissioner

A Medical Practitioner, Politician par excellence, Legislator, astute Activist and Journalist, was born in Agege on 3rd May, 1965 and attended Anwar-Ul-Islam College Agege, 1977-1982, Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto , 1985-1991 and the University of Lagos, 2000-2002.

He bagged a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB,BS) in 1991, Masters in International Law  and Diplomacy (MILD) in 2000 and Masters in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies (MHRS) in 2002.

Dr. Ahmed served as House Officer at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Kaduna (1992-93); he undertook his mandatory National Youth Service at the Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, 1993-94 and was Medical Director, Noble Medical Centre, Agege from 1995-98.

Aside from his education in the field of Medicine and service as the Secretary-General, Medical Students Association, he was also Public Relations Officer, Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto.

As a Legislator, he distinguished himself since his time at the Lagos State House of Assembly on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in 1999. He was Chairman, House Committee on Health and specifically sponsored the motion for free treatment of accident victims within the first 24 hours, which the Tinubu administration immediately adopted.

Ahmed was a member Lagos State Publicity Committee of the Action Congress of Nigeria for the April 2011 General Elections and subsequently served as the Hon. Commissioner for Special Duties between 2011 and 2015.

Until his appointment by Governor Sanwo-Olu as the Honourable Commissioner Commissioner for Special Duties, he was the State Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.

In January, 2020, Dr, Hamed was redeployed to the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs as the Honorable Commissioner where he is currently serving
